'Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid' ... But We Do!

'Cuz we're neither. Dead nor men. And plaid is the theme for DJ Surfer's Thursday event at VBII...5 pm SLT. Be there or be square--and in plaid you might be both. (Some of you will recall Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid as a  1982 Carl Reiner film starring Steve Martin--a spoof of detective noir films.)

On Sunday at 4 pm SLT, Avion is host a "primitives" themed event. A chance to let your primal instincts to guide how you dress (or don't). Avion says, "Think One Million Years BC, Xena Warrior Princess, Clan of the Cave Bear, and get in touch with your inner savage...cavegirls, barbarians, animal skins and castaways all suit."

Last Thursday, Avion wrapped herself in the flag (literally, not figuratively) and walked away with first place at Surfer's observance of ANZAC Day. On Sunday, we had very colorful co-winners, Surfer (in red) and Elanor (in a rainbow of colors), in the Best Party Dress competition.

Don't forget, we're in the season of the year when Laura and Avion bring us a 5 am SLT event on Fridays. See you on the lovely sims!

Party Dresses and Showing Your Down Under Spirit

No, you pervs, not "showing" what you have down under! Thursday is ANZAC Day (the Down Under equivalent of the American Veterans Day and Independence Day rolled into one), so for DJ Surfer's 5 pm SLT event that day dress like an Aussie, or a Kiwi.

Sunday's contest at 4 pm SLT will be Best Party Dress for a dance at the stylish club Ella's. Don't forget Friday morning, 5 am SLT, the resumption of our International Mixer continues at a time convenient for nearly all of our worldwide friends.

Sunday's St. George's Day event drew visitors from at least five nations...even two from England. But, American impostors Alwayz and Shy wound up as top vote-getters for Best in British. Thursday's Best in Sheer winner was our new member Pictureme. And Friday's Best in Swimwear winner at the BBQ was Surfer.

Don't forget to click on the "Vote" bell when you visit Venus Beach II. We're not sure exactly what it does, but it may affect SL search results.

On Sunday We Went to the Rock Hard Cafe and Sucked Some...

...straws, of course. 'Cuz the Rock Hard Café is the terrific malt shop created by Avion where Madhurya won "Best in '50s" and Bea spun hits from the era. And that was after filling the pool (and deck) with a bevy of bathing beauties on Saturday evening.

Coming up we have Surfer's weekly surprise theme Thursday at 5 pm SLT, and on Sunday at 4 pm SLT a St. George's Day event where red and white are the colors as we all pretend to be teddibly Briddish, doncha know. OK, some of you won't have to pretend.

With the various time changes, and the rotation of the earth reversing (or sumpthin' like that), on Friday our Aussie leaders return with their Friday 5 am SLT event that is timed to accommodate just about all of our world-wide membership (morning in the Americas, afternoon in Europe and Africa, evening in Asia and Oceania). Laura's the hostess and Avion's the DJ. This week there'll be shrimp on the barbie and Fosters in the cooler as we enjoy a beach BBQ next to the new Surf's Up! Tiki Bar.

More on this later, but when visiting the VBII sims, drop by the Portofino market next to the landing area and enjoy a gelato. There are also new vendors there from Total Eclipse, some reliable regulars as well, along with a pair of Lucky Letter chairs.

Udder Delight and Wascal Wabbits and Tatted Tits...

I've got a lot of catching up to do. Venus Beach II has been busy and fun!

As you might imagine, the Farm Girls' "girls" were udderly delightful. Easter morning brought us "the incredible edible egg" (chocolate too!), and that evening there were a bevy of bunnies in the hutch, but a pair of wascal wabbits weaped the wewards. Ink and henna were resplendent at this past Sunday's Tits 'n' Tats event.

What's next? A change of pace as we visit The Malt Shop Sunday at 4 pm SLT for Best in '50s.

And don't forget Surfer's contest Thursday at 5 pm SLT--look for the theme announcement the day of the event. The entire VBII schedule appears below in Bea's post.

While you're visiting Venus Beach II, try a ride on Flapper the dolphin--at tonight's Topless Tiki Toosday, or any other time--she's always available. And if you choose to wimp out and "hug" the dolphin, I'm sure no one will think for a moment that you're secretly "enjoying" that dorsal fin...

Hillside Crossing

Taking the teleport to Hillside Junction we find ourselves at a divergent path.  In RL being but one traveler one would be sorry she could not travel both paths. We may keep one for another day as we walk the other way.  Yet knowing how way leads on to way, we doubt if we should ever come back.¹ But here we are in SL with the freedom to enjoy both..

Before you decide on a path if you’ve come with someone special, take a moment to enjoy a nice cuddle as you watch the sun rise.  If you’ve come by yourself, seek out the stands of meditation mushrooms for quiet contemplation and relaxation. 

In one direction we have the fire-watch tower.  This is one of the highest places around and offers a spectacular vista, where princesses keep the view and women come and go². Below the tower, underground is one of the rental homes available on at Venus Beach.  This one is perhaps my favorite.  Reminiscent of a modernized version of the Pueblo cliff dwellings in Mesa Arizona, the apartment is built right into the cliff; hewn from the solid volcanic basalt.  One side opens up to a panoramic view of the ocean from your balcony, while the other spills out onto a private beach at the base of the cliff.  There must be some kind of way out of here².  Head back down the path and keep going.  

As I tread this path I came across my little friend here, the giant fawn.  As you can see he’s very friendly although he tends to keep to himself.  

Along this path you will find a bench to relax and some quiet areas to cuddle. Off to the left there is a cute little tent to snuggle up and enjoy the sunset.  This path leads to the Rotunda but along the way you will pass a hang glider.  Hold on tight and jump off.  You can take in the entire sim as you soar through the air. Marvel at the breathtaking scenery.  Make sure to see both sides of the peninsula before you head back in. 

The path not taken¹ leads to one of my favorite features of the Venus sims. The trees part revealing the vibrant colors of a flower carpeted meadow.  In open fields of wildflowers, she breaths the air and flies away³.
