More adventures with Laura and Avion!

After our little foray with Avion's speedboat around the Venus Beach II sims, we decided to once again head to the forgotten area of the grid, - The Mainland.
Much to our surprise, we found hundreds of sims featuring open ocean...Thats right, actual ocean, not just void blue areas on the world map. You can travel through whole ocean sims, and even get lost, often you can see no land, even at a high draw distance. Not everything we found is on here, but lets just say, you'd also be surprised about what lies beneath,as well as eye level!!
Check out the pics from our adventure below :)))
See you around,
Laura xx
Ready to Rezz our boat...plenty of places on the coast let you rezz your craft

Hair tied back! Avion pilots the boat into the endless ocean..

What lies underneath??? you'll have to come here to find out...

Oil rig in the ocean

Boarding the rig

Rig production line...???

End of the production line...fun to watch

Level two on the rig...great attention to detail..

To find the ocean we visited in this post, this is the SLURL...

It will be held at the Castle at the rear of our Venus Gardens sim...AND it will be the last chance to check out our great creation, thanks to Avion who spent many hours creating it...

So in the next few days... come to our Friday 5am event (and of course, 500L on the board for best in Medieval - and great DJ'ing of course!) and have a look through and take advantage of the great addition we have at VBII before it's removed...

All aboard the SLRR !!

Just what the heck is the SLRR I hear you ask??
Well the SLRR is the Second Life Railroad... It runs on that forgotten backwater known as the mainland...remember that place??
Actually, it's far from a forgotten backwater! It's still well in  existence.

Avion and I rode it the other day, starting our little trip at Tuliptree Station at the southern end of the Heterocera Atoll continent.

The SLRR originates from the early days in 2003 of Second Life, when teleport was not around. Users could simply jump on a train and travel down the line to where they wanted to go to.

Now it is a large extensive network of main lines, branch lines, and tram-style tracks. It runs inland, across lakes and oceans, through cities and through the countryside. There are many users on the same time as you. From one end to the other on the main-line takes around an hour.

Landing at Tuliptree station at the southern end of the SLRR

The SLRR map, showing users on the line, far left of screen where you can rezz and keep a freebie train to run on the network

Train rezzed! time to start the trip..

As you travel, you can click on the train to go faster, slower (slower is good, often faster you can't see much, it won't rezz in front of you, especially if you have a low draw distance) you can get your train to  go forwards, backwards, puff smoke or have a headlight on...if someone else comes, don't worry, the train is phantom while they pass you...

and we're off! Avion I start out across the mainland..

Continuing our trip...calling at stations, passing points of interest..
And off into the sunset!!

The SLRR covers 85+ sims, and is regularly being extended.
You can rezz your train at most stations, and on most of the network there is an auto return of ten minutes, giving you enough time to stop and explore some sights on the way.
It's a great way to explore, maybe not the 'girly' thing to do, but who said girls can't drive trains??!!
To try the SLRR out, do a search under 'SLRR' rezz your free train, and get driving.. Tuliptree station is the largest and best starting point.

Ripped and Torn Wrap up......and some VBII news...

"Ripped and Torn" sounded like an unusual choice for our dance party earlier this week..I had to admit that I was a bit pessimistic to start with.
Anyway, I'm told that it went really well, and Avion played a new mix of music.. She took some pictures to put up on the blog, which I'll post at the end of today's update..

On Friday we'll be staging our Friday 5am event as a 'Fairy Party" ~ with $L500 on the board for the best dressed fairy!! The party is gonna be held on the hillside above the beach... LM and details to follow soon..

We have decided that it will soon be Survey Time again. You may recall last time we did this...VBII is your community, and we need your feedback so we can improve the place.. Soon we'll be giving everyone a chance to take the survey and help bring to the community more of what you want..

See you all at one of our many events...

Laura and Avion go exploring..

Avion and I decided after our boat outing to look for something else to do in our sims...you'd be surprised what we came across!!

Have you ever looked beyond the dance floor? It's amazing what you can find if you *try* just that bit harder to look for all those hidden surprises

Today, Avion and I decided to conquer our fears of height.. You might be amazed to know that we found a parachute and a hand glider! Both great ways to explore our sims...
I had a bit of trouble chasing Avion as she attempted to fly with the hand glider... but we got some good pics..Have a look below..
The parachute was hard to guide, ended up in the water, but was good fun...my dress needed to be washed after though, and not much fun in heels!
See you at the beach!!
