Flappers: New Breed of 1920s Women

Next Sunday we'll drop back nearly a century to the Roaring Twenties and DJ Bea will help us all experience the Flapper Era. [From Wikipedia: Flappers were a "new breed" of young Western women in the 1920s who wore short skirts, bobbed their hair, listened to jazz, and flaunted their disdain for what was then considered acceptable behavior. Flappers were seen as brash for wearing excessive makeup, drinking, treating sex in a casual manner, smoking, driving automobiles, and otherwise flouting social and sexual norms.] Sounds like college to me...

Last evening we returned to O'Reilly's Pub for our annual celebration of St. Patrick's Day and danced to Avion's lively playlist of Irish-themed tunes. In very close voting Best St. Patrick's Day Costume honors went to Qntal.

Monday morning at 9 am SLT DJ Bea starts the VBII week with an eclectic mix of music.

DJ JoAnn rocks Mondays at 5 pm SLT. [Monday evening photos by Avion]

Avion's Topless Tiki Toosday moves to the VBII swimming pool this week, 5 pm SLT on Tuesday.

Swingin' DJ Bea does a classic swing event at Honeysuckle Rose every Wednesday at 6 pm SLT, this week featuring Billie Holiday. Men are welcome (at this event only). Swing era attire or smart casual.

DJ Surfer returns to the DJ booth to host Games Night Thursday at 5 pm in the Amusement Park after Avion filled in last week.

See you around campus,

  Shy Librarian
