The Haunted Mansion...and so much more
Recent conversation in the Dungeon about Disney's Haunted Mansion prompted Avion and Shy to revisit the SL version we first found on a 2018 trip to the Disney-tribute Magicland. The Haunted Mansion has moved, but creator Nance Clowes has maintained and improved the awesome 20-minute adventure so that it remains one of SL's premier attractions. It's now located in Masters Park, a brand new 2020 aggregation of some of the best rides inworld collected by owner Brick Stable-Masters. Much to see and do here but, first, jump in a "Doom Buggy" and relive the Haunted Mansion experience.
In Masters Park dozens of quality rides are located in areas called Dark Land, Coaster World, Water World, Undersea Land, and the family-oriented Play Land. We barely scratched the surface of the many rides, and strongly suggest you grab the greeting notecard on arrival. It contains LMs for all of the rides. Most important lessons we learned while wandering this fun-filled adventure: turn on sounds; use mouselook on rides (go back a second time if you want to pull back for photos); follow the popup and other instructions; sometimes there are programmed delays; turnstiles, gates and elevators might require some patience and second attempts. But, most important, have fun!
For those who might be wondering, Magicland, which dates to the early days of SL, is still there for the enjoyment of children of all ages. Be sure to grab your free ears at City Hall near the entrance. And THEN make the same last-minute discovery we did: a box full of 40+ LMs to rides and theme parks in SL. It's in the middle of the Photo Supply Co. shop one block west on Main Street and across the street from City Hall. We had time to test just one of the LMs (Haunted Catacombs) and it was terrific!

Last Sunday evening we skied and skated our way to the permafrost of Venus Freeze for Winter Festival, celebrating the beginning of the end of the Northern hemisphere frigidity. Most guests wore clothing appropriate to the weather, while dancing to the cool, even cold, tunes by DJ Avion.
For this week's Celtic Sunrise at 5 am SLT, we magic-carpet our way to the Arabian Nights set where DJ Qntal will play Celtic and romantic music. Last week DJ Shelly presented "Love Songs and Lingerie" with a selection of sweet tunes on the Big Bed in Venus Bean.
