On Thursday of last week (July 15th), several Venus Beach II members were honored to participate in the wedding of VB regulars Cassie and Revy.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
Now on to regular business ....
For this week's Sunday evening event at 4 pm SLT we go beachside for Favorite Summer Dress, where DJ Avion will play summery songs at the Hawaiian venue. No need for clothing suggestions this time.
Bea's This Week in VB II
Last week on Sunday evening at 4 pm, DJ Bea spun a mix of top R&B hits from the 1950s and early 60s in the Malt Shop venue, where many guests dressed to the theme with a cool array of period attire.
For this week's Celtic Sunrise at 5 am SLT, DJ Avion (in DJ Qntal's absence) will present a selection of early rock'n'roll in the Happy Daze diner. Last week, we mosied on down to the VB Barn where DJ Qntal played a mix of country & western tunes.
DJ Bea plays an eclectic mix of rock, blues and jazz on Monday mornings at 9 am SLT. This Monday, Bea says "I decided I wanted to play some Warren Zevon .... and then I added some Grateful Dead .... and then I added some Steely Dan .... and then a bunch of random stuff to fill it out."
DJ Cerydwen continues her journey into the best decades of contemporary music with 80s Night at 5 pm SLT Monday. Always lots of favorites, as well as music you've rarely or never heard before.
DJ Avion spins tunes old and new, by artists legendary and obscure, when we get beachy for Tiki Toosday at 5 pm SLT. We currently alternate between the VB Pool and Surf's Up, which will be the venue for next Tuesday's event.
DJ Cerydwen presents Symphonic and Goth metal on Wednesdays at 5 pm SLT, in her latex and leather dungeon. Great music in a perfect setting for an oft-overlooked but compelling genre of music.
On Fridays at 5 pm SLT, DJ Cerydwen plays a musical theme that often takes place in one of the special venues. This week's theme is Elemental Earth, one of the four classical elements in ancient Greek philosophy and associated with the virtues of strength and protection, and the terrestrial world. Suggested attire .... warrior, armor, guardian, woodland, fae, mystic? your guess is as good as mine! Last week we were summoned to court to mark the World Day for International Justice, celebrated on July 17th as part of an effort to recognize the emerging system of international crime justice.
