Bea Rocks The Malt Shop

For this week's Sunday evening event at 4 pm SLT we return to the period Malt Shop where DJ Bea will play the top R&B hits from 1962 and 1963. Haul those bobby-sox and poodle skirts out of inventory, or find something equally fifties.

Worth Visiting: Le Deracine (The Rootless) 3-D Art Exhibit
La Deracine (The Rootless) by Jade Yu is the latest (June 14-Sept. 17) offering at The Sim Quarterly. The 3D art piece features driftwood-like roots in an ocean and dunes setting. In the roots you'll find a few human forms (on top of the dune, hovering above the water, and dancers, for example).

Like its four predecessors, Paris-trained artist Jade Yu's work fully utilizes the features of Second Life to erase the artificial distinction between the "real" world and the SL-possible. Here's the landmark.

Last Sunday evening we visited the Moulin Rouge cabaret to celebrate Bastille Day (July 14th), the French national day. Guests danced in a variety of wonderful costumes to a mix of burlesque and revolutionary music provided by DJ Avion.

For this week's Celtic Sunrise at 5 am SLT, we return to the medieval castle where DJ Shelly will play Celtic and romantic tunes. Last week DJ Qntal took us back to the Arabian Nights setting for a lovely mix of Arabian and romantic music.

DJ Bea plays an eclectic set of rock, blues and jazz on Monday mornings at 9 am SLT. This Monday Bea says "I took a couple of R&B/oldies focused sets and put them together. Up-tempo and lots of fun."

DJ JoAnn continues her journey into the best decades of contemporary music with 80s Night at 5 pm SLT Monday. Always lots of favorites, as well as music you've rarely or never heard before.

Nai and Ceremonia had some quiet moments in Surf's Up

DJ Avion spins tunes old and new, by artists legendary and obscure, when we gather for Tiki Toosday at 5 pm SLT. We currently alternate between Surf's Up and the VB Pool, which will be the location of next Tuesday's event.

DJ JoAnn presents Symphonic and Goth metal on Wednesdays at 5 pm SLT  in her latex and leather dungeon. Great music in a perfect setting for an oft-overlooked but compelling genre of music.

On Fridays at 5 pm SLT DJ JoAnn plays a musical theme that often takes place in one of the special venues. This week's theme is World Day for International Justice, celebrated throughout the world on July 17th as part of an effort to recognize the emerging system of international crime justice. A courtroom setting is envisaged, so attire might be members of the legal and law enforcement professions, prisoners in chains, jury members or vicarious onlookers. Last week we had the choice of dressing wintry or warm while JoAnn presented music on the topic of Fire and Ice.
