Last Sunday we entered the way-back machine and celebrated the new year in a way that the ancient Romans surely didn't. Music about the passage of time was accompanied an array of colorful costumes, parts of which succumbed to age and crumbled to dust as the evening progressed.
For this week's Celtic Sunrise at 5 am SLT, DJ Qntal will present "Ladies of Rock", with a selection of music by female singers and rockers. Last week, Qntal played "Rock in the New Year", with an excellent assortment of rock songs from the 70s to the present.
DJ Bea plays an eclectic mix of rock, blues and jazz on Monday mornings at 9 am SLT. This Monday, Bea says "In Scotland, New Year's Eve is referred to as Hogmany, and it is a huge party, with its own traditions. By request, a Hogmany set ...." Expect Scottish folk and modern traditional music.
