Phew! Busy weekend at the beach!

We've had a busy weekend at the beach...if you missed out, you can see some of the pics below. On Friday we launched our Friday event 'Hey, Hey It's Friday'... we fired up our BBQ on the beach, but our bikinis on, and celebrated a distinctly Aussie theme!
Fast forward to Saturday, in the evening we had, in unique VBII style, a impromptu pool party. As a result, some rocked up not dressed in beach attire, lol!, but a fun time was had by all...

NEW EVENT STARTS THIS MORNING!

COME TO VENUS BEACH II @ 5am PST... 


Our new event 'Hey, Hey It's Friday' (wow what a catchy title!) starts TODAY at 5am, we'll be having a disticntly Aussie theme! We're throwing away the dance floor, and will be physically on the beach, frying up the snags and swimming between the beach flags! So see you down at the beach!!

Hey Hey It's Friday!

G'day fellow Beach bums! 


This Friday see's us launch a **BRAND NEW** event at Venus Beach II !! We're calling it 'Hey, Hey, it's Friday!'... Each week, we will have a theme, and no two weeks will ever be the same...it promises to be fast paced, new, and exciting. This week we're launching with 'Australia Day' VBII style...we'll be off the dance floor, and on the beach itself, frying up some snags on the BBQ, and strutting the place in our bikini's.... so be sure to come down! We're really excited about this event.
We're timing it at 5am SLT. The reason we're doing it at this time is to cater to the needs of those who can't make the events that run at other times... 
We're having a logo competition for this event, so submit your logo to me in world for your chance at winning $L400....
See you on Friday, if not before!

Tooesday again!

Just a reminder to say, if your doing nothing today, I expect to see you support our Tiki Tooesday down at the beach! Come down to one of our greatest VB2 and VB traditions which is the Tiki Bar at Tiki Tooesday, I will be there, so see you there, come see why we all have so much fun!

Great Night at our Classical Evening!

If you didn't make it to our "Classical Night" on the weekend, where were you? Our ladies put on their formal wear, and seen from all angles, it was easy to check out the competition in our 'Hall of Mirrors' build. In the end it was so hard to pick a winner that it was a dead heat between Qntal and Gabby.... and we must admit, it was the first time we saw our regular, Gabby, in clothes!

Our DJ's do it cos they love it...

At Venus Beach II, we have a small but dedicated crew of DJ's... They've been at it for some time, and often spend hours week at Venus Beach II running events, and then not to forget the many hours of planning that comes with this.

When your next down at one of our many events, remember what sort of work goes into an event, and if you feel as if you can, please use the Donation Dolphin to tip the community or pay the DJ directly, every bit helps..

I'm not saying we charge for events, nooooo! they're all totally free and always will be!

Also, we're running dry on theme ideas! If you have any, please drop one of us a IM, NC or leave a comment below.

Hey Hey! It will soon be Fridays at VBII!

Yep, Fridays will soon never be the same again at the Beach! Avion and I are going to soon launch a new Friday event called 'Hey Hey It's Friday!' So watch this space, we hope to be up and running in a few weeks...we'll be running it at 5am SLT to cater for Aussies and similar timezones, and No, it's not just going to be music and the same old, this will be different!!! One of the things about Venus Beach II is that we belong to you... It's not our private playground..it's yours.
We want to know right now about our events... What do you like? What do you dislike? what could we do better? What are we missing? What do we do well? Do you have ideas for themes? Could you offer your time to DJ? Do you like the music sets our DJ's are performing?
If you choose not to come to an event what puts you off?? Do we run events at the right time?


We're looking for girls who want to get involved and help us more.... in any way... Rome wasn't built in a day, but we have the foundations up and running..

Venus Beach II Titanic Party pics!

We had a great time on the weekend with our Titanic Party, we where small in number, but that didn't stop us having a whale of a time!
The theme was 'Best in Bikini, and naturally as is so often it was a draw... Well done to Surfer and Madhurya for winning that...and well done to Avion for DJ'ing AND building the ship!

Busy Thursdays @ VBII

Come down and party the day with us at Venus Beach today!!


At 9am DJ Bea is up, with some electric tunes and a vow that nudity is optional at VBII !! Come as you are, we don't judge..... but make sure you come down to visit us.
Newbies always welcome of course...


If thats not enough of your daily VBII fix, join us again at 5pm when DJ Surfer will take to the floor and spin her unique tunes. So today there is no excuse, if you miss one, come to the other.

A concise History of the Venus Beach brand..

I asked our very own Bea (you'll know her as one of our DJ's!) to put together some basics our history. I have filled in the gaps before her time, and added some bits she missed... 
Did you know that some of us have been around (albeit on and off!) since 2006??? Our history is rich and varied... Pics to follow soon, but first, have a read...! Comments always welcome!

December 2006 - Venus Beach Club for Women opens at Plush Northlake, with a 1/4 sim, under the leadership of Lapis Lynin and Rhea Riel.

April 2007, Laura Garmes and Tiffani Tripsa  promoted to Archangel status
July 2007, Tiffani and Laura marry.
September 2007: Laura and Tiffani now jointly own VB with Lapis and Rhea.
September 2007: 7 Archangels and 4 Goddesses (Owners)
July 2007, Venus Beach club extends to the rest of the Plush Northlake sim
October 2007, Laura and Tiffani purchase VB from Lapis and Rhea, who go create 'Venus Mons' which lanches around Christmas 2007.

February 2008, Laura purchases a 1/4 neighbouring sim, and Pivot builds a mall on it. Venus Beach Club for women is now takes in 1.25 sims.
March 2008,  membership peaks at 535.
June 1, 2008    Owner Tiffani Tripsa divorces co-owner Laura Garmes. Laura leaves VB soon after for a break.
June 17, 2008, Laura sells her share to Regan Gaffer
Summer 2008 - Tiffani marries Regan
Late Northern summer / Fall 2008 - "The Troubles". Huge split in VB after Tiffani's divorce/remarriage. Among other happenings:
             Archangel BeteNoir Aabye pays Regan $25L, and tells her to divorce Tiff. When Regan refuses, BeteNoir evicts her from sim. BeteNoir subsequently banned.
              Long-time member and former partial owner Pivot Pinion banned.
              Archangels powers reduced sharply, turning them into hostesses, after one arch returns a bunch of Regan's items. 
              Regan and Tiffani retitle themselves "Supreme Goddesses" and institute new class of "Goddesses" to help manage sim.

Late 2008/early 2009 - Move from Plush Northlake to Redonda  
Late spring of 2009 - Influx of new members
Northern Summer of 2009  - Many archangels who are no longer active removed from positions, and newer, active members promoted to those slots
Northern Summer of 2009 - Early dance parties - 9 AM SLT Tuesday and Thursday, 8 AM Saturday and Sunday, dj'd by Zoanne Zanzibar - become popular.
Early Northern  Fall 2009 - Member Angelin LittleBoots becomes very active and is promoted to Archangel.

January 2010 -  Officers Angelin LittleBoots, Avion Luminos, and Beathag McMahon
begin organizing regular events. Angelin is the dj, and Avion begins building sets. These include the Sunday 4 PM event, as well as a weekday 4 PM event. The weekday event moves around before finally settling on Tuesday as Techno Toosday. This later becomes Tiki Toosday with DJ Avion at the helm.
Late 2010 - Traffic numbers begin to fall. The Managers unable to be in world often.

Early 2011  - Zoanne is unable to continue dj'ing, and Avion begins dj'ing her dance parties
March 2011 - Laura makes fresh contact with Tiffani Tripsa and Beathag. 
and soon after, Tiffani excepts Laura's offer to buy back in to Venus Beach Club for Women. Laura is shocked at the state of the beach, and the way it has been left to slowly die, mainly due to the two managers unable to be there cos of their RL's.  Tiffani asks Laura 'To make it like AWT' (A Womens' Touch)
May 2011 - Laura formally returns and assumes day-to-day management, Tiffani and Regan are unable to do be there each day, due to their RL commitment. 
Laura provides Regan and Tiffani with a plan to stimulate the beach and sets upon the plan. Membership is at 414.
June 2011 - upgrade completed, membership is up to 444, ad traffic up 500%. 
Not everyone is happy, and Laura is told off for not seeking joint permission from the other owners.
Frustrated and dumbfounded by their views, Laura decides to break away and form Venus Beach, stating that the views each other have are different, and in order not to die, we must move with the times. Laura chooses to save the VB brand, rather than see it wither and become static, and has the full support of key middle level staffers.
July 2011 - Venus Beach II opens for business with a clear model for success. Laura appoints Avion Luminos the co-owner, and abolishes the Supreme Goddess Role.

All arch's formal powers returned. Archs given autonomy to run their own events.
August 2011 - Old members, excluded from Venus Beach Club for Women, return, and are offered Archangel tags where they where stripped of them. Venus Beach II's core value is that of community and not that of a 'club' 
September 2011 - Venus Beach II extends to two sims and offers rentals.
November 2011 - Avion and Laura partner. 
November 2011 - DJ Moon starts a Thursday event
December 2011 - a new build is planned to cement our identity as separate from Venus Beach Club for Women.
December 25, 2011.... 100th member.

February 2012 - New build complete, membership grows steeply. Venus Beach II to have a new build on an annual basis. 

February 2012 - new partnerships with groups to cross-promote our events. Events listed as well on the Linden Search
March 2012 - Venus Beach II's blog launched. 
March 2012 - traffic begins to exceed A Womens' Touch
March 2012 - Laura writes to Venus Beach Club For Women seeking to settle differences - no response. 
April 2012 - Laura writes again to Venus Beach Club for Women.
April 2012 - 140th member joins.

Ever wanted a place with a view?? Surrounding our lagoon, we have two spaces you may have not seen! First, we have our awesome old weather tower... tucked right at the end of the main Venus Gardens walkway, above the apartments, it's the perfect spot to look down at the lagoon, relax and enjoy the Linden sunset (I mean, who can beat them??) or just to be for some time out! 

Nearer the centre of the two sims, you fill find our old watchtower, this is REALLY tall, and is accessed via a old spiral staircase, up and up, and up, to the deck at the top... here is another quieter spot, here you can look over our fields and woodlands, and across to our little village, or out to sea... 

So when your next stuck for something to do, come check these unique locations out...

Introducing Venus Beach II's adopted charity

Introducing 'One Girl' which we have decided will be our adopted charity. It's Australian based and focuses on Sierra Leone.  Here's a bit from their website, rather than me typing it all out and missing something:  (www.onegirl.org.au)

When you educate a girl, she’ll change the world. Really? Yes, really. An educated girl is three times less likely to contract HIV / AIDS. When she receives education, she’ll marry later and have fewer, healthier children. For every extra year of schooling, her income will increase by 10 – 25 percent. Not only that, she’ll reinvest 90 percent of the money she earns back into her family.

Educating a girl has a ‘multiplier effect’. When you educate a girl, you educate her family. When her family is educated, so is her community. When her communities is educated, so is her country. We believe that educating girls is the key to a transformed world. We’re changing the world, one girl at a time.

We focus on empowering women and girls so that they can create and lead change in their communities. We believe that education and economic empowerment are vital when it comes to tackling the issues that women and girls face in Sierra Leone

So we at Venus Beach II, feel we have a responsibility to help, and as role models for other Womens' communities in Second Life, we have decided that in May, we will donate all donations and rental income from our tenants to the One Girl cause..  As you can see if you look at the website just $20 (L$5000) educates a girl for a month! Imagine how that can change lives!! We'll also be running a major fund-raising event  sometime in May to help support 'One Girl'

A great night had at our 'Best In Black' evening!!

We had a great time at our Best In Black evening at the beach last night! If you missed out, why where you not there???!!! We had a good crowd of 11, and Alwayz Baroque taking out the prize for 'Best in Black'
The set - lovingly designed by Avion i may add - was awesome for the event and blended into the beach really well.
This week seems some more of our popular events, and the ever popular Tiki Tooesday on Tuesday, of course...
Don't forget to keep an eye on group notices, and bring your friends along to our events!
