A wonder around VBII - from Bev...

We’ll start our little walk through at the LZ.  You’ll first find yourself in a small, covered tiki hut.  The wall in front of you contains the photos and pagers for the Venus Beach II (VBII) staff.  Feel free to bug them. Especially when they are sleeping, they love it, trust me, have I ever steered you wrong?  To your right on that wall, you’ll see a few itty bitty rules, well more like provisos …standards of practice?  Anyway, no boys allowed, etc.  So take it easy, feel free to be yourself without any pressure.  There is also a suggestion box here too if you have ways you think would make VBII even better.  And no “drown the annoying red-head” does not count as a suggestion!
Cast your glance to the left now and get a little info on our traffic and hopefully see your own profile pic looking back at you. You did click yes, didn’t you?  I hope so, because you’re important to us and we want to get to know you.
Turn around now and look behind you.  In the center, you’ll find the TP board which will give you a quick ride to any of the lovely destinations you see.  Some of the links are inoperable at the moment while Laura and Avion are busy with the new build.  But if you’ve seen the rest of their work you know it will be well worth the wait.  I have been to very few places, if any, that can match the build quality here while remaining user friendly and low lag!
Take a minute to peruse the photo board to the right of the TP board.  A number of the members have their photos up here.  I’m there, do you see me?  Over to the left is another important piece of information; the event schedule. This will tell you what is going on and who’s the DJ.
By now we’ve spent altogether too much time at the LZ.  That’s “landing zone” if you didn’t know.  Sorry, I had to take a little break to educate the noobs.  If you are a noob feel free to join us too.  You will always find a friendly face and a helping hand and pretty much any guidance you need.  If one of us can’t help you we probably know who can.
Exiting the LZ you’ll come to the dance floor.  The dance floor just out into the bay surrounding you with the calm tropical waters of Venus Beach II.  This has long been a staple feature of Venus Beach.  This should be your first stop since this is where most of the action takes place.  Again, check that event schedule to find out when the party is.  If you’re a member, you should be receiving weekly notices from Bea in addition to announcements about individual events.  If not, you come talk to me and I’ll straighten her out.  Take a look around now and notice some key features.  The little green box is the voting doohickey.  So click that before we move on…

I mean it, this tour is not continuing until you click it.

Ok.  Good.  That is done.  That voting thingamabob tells Linden how great we are, or something.  Or it keeps track of…something.  Ok, fine I don’t know what it does or how it works but we want votes, lots of votes so click it every time you come.
Across from the voting widget, you’ll see the VBII dolphin.  This cheeky little fella will ask for donations.  Now, we aren’t after your money here at VBII but any bit that you want to kick back will take some of the burden off Laura and Avion and say thanks for the great job they do in giving us such a wonderful place to be ourselves and make friends.  They’re usually pretty nice too.
You’ll see a couple of info boards around too.  The one at ground level shows you what event you’re at and who’s the DJ.  Overhead we have a board showing the current stream and what song is playing.  There is also often a contest board so you can go out, listen to great music, have a great time with your friends, AND maybe pocket a few lindens.  Not bad, huh?

As great as the dance floor is, don’t be surprised if you don’t see it at all.  Our master builder Avion is always designing amazing sets for themed parties.  The dance floor could look like anything from an in-ground swimming pool to an automotive showroom.
Now that we’ve covered the excitement, lets relax a bit.  Come over here and grab a seat by the fire.  There are single poses for a nice chat and couple’s ones to snuggle up with that special someone.  There’s not too much better than a cozy campfire when you need to relax and chill a bit.

If you look around this area you might find something that almost looks out of place.  A tree that looks like it’s from a different era in Second Life.  This tree, with its hanging swing has been another staple at VB since the beginning.  It holds particular significance for me since it’s where I met Bea over 3 years ago.  We hit it off immediately and only grew closer.  She guided me when I was a noob, stumbling in the darkness.  It’s strange to remember coming in without a clue to now giving tours and helping and advising noobs myself and getting to chat with all of you fine people.  I’m still pretty new to this blogging thing so if you have any ideas for things you’d like me to yammer on about, please let me know.  I plan to follow this one up with the rest of the sim. That is, if Laura doesn’t fire me for making this one a desk reference set.
