Avion & Shy's Excellent Adventures 01 Basilique

Recently, fueled partly by wanderlust and partly by the futility of spending endless hours (not) controlling inventory, Avion and Shy began exploring interesting locations in Second Life. After some furtive starts they came across an incredible series of builds, both new and old. Here's the first.

Basilique

Owner Niccoli Sweetwater and helper Wendy Nitley have spruced up a northern Italian island town and added to it some lovely features. And work continues, so be sure to revisit. Basilique comes with a centuries old (1292) backstory (be sure to get the notecards when you land). It wasn't until our third visit that we found the namesake Basilica. It's huge and, yes, that was a little embarrassing. The interior is exquisitely detailed like everything else on this lovely sim. Slurl:

Nearby is Harvey's Bar

The Basilica is behind the ancient Tower

The Basilica from the apse

 The Pantheon

You'll know it's the Pantheon when you look up and see the hole

Solar panels and a wind farm lend a modern touch to this ancient town

The Palazzo's huge Grand Hall recently hosted over 90 avatars for an event

Next door is La Petite Joie CafĂ©

Remember the Pier? ...

... you never know who you might run into there...like Kit-Kat, for example

As with many such "discoveries" there are tons of other places and features worth visiting at Basilique. This post represents a mere taste of what's on offer. With (free) group membership you gain access to some private areas, as well. Enjoy.
